Quilted card and crocheted flowers...

My day to post over on the Bubbly Scrumptious blog again today - the weeks are flying by far too quickly!  This week I've made a quilt inspired card using hand stitching with this pretty Prima flower as the focal point.  I always like to have some ready made flowers in my stash for those times when I  haven't time to make my own.  There's a full supplies list and a step-by-step guide to hand stitching on cards HERE on the Bubbly Scrumptious blog.

Inspired by my blogging pal Katie, I attended a beginners crochet workshop yesterday.  In only two hours I'd made a flower!

A big achievement for a complete novice like me.  I had such a great time I'm going back next week for the intermediate class, best get practising!

  1. This is such a fab card Vicky, love the stitching! Well done with your crochet flower, it looks great. Wont be long before you are well and truly hooked !!!

  2. Woohoo, check out that stunning flower! These will be adorning cards for a while I predict and rightly so, they are so pretty.
Thanks so much for the mention too :)
    Have a great weekend,
    Katie x

  3. Gorgeous the pretty papers and flower too sweetie..:o)

    big hugs Vicky xx

  4. Gorgeous card Vicky, love your crochet flower - want to learn myself have tried a book and online tut's but still can't so will keep an eye out for a local class! K x

    1. I tried to teach myself too with a book and online but just couldn't get it. The class has really helped - now I get it lol!

  5. Gorgeous card hun & so love your crochet flower...clever girl :o)

I'm wanting to learn how to crochet so i have ordered myself some crocheting hooks & need to find a good book...mmmm...but wondering if i should find a class instead!!

Can't wait to see what crocheting you do next :D
    hugs and xxx

  6. This is a beautiful simple yet exciting card. Lovely colourway and a new technique to try out yet again thank you. You are quite inspirational

  7. This is absolutely beautiful! So delicate! Love the beautiful crocheting too :D

  8. Love this card - the love you added with the hand stitching really makes it shine x
And OMG I soooooo want to learn to crochet - well done the flower is amazing - bet you're looking forward to lesson #2.
    ((hugs)) Suzie xoxo

  9. Love the stitched card Vicky and well done you for learning to crochet - I agree, its so much easier if someone shows you than trying to learn from a book. Once you get the hang of the stitches, you'll be making all sorts of things and its so much quicker than knitting. Just watch out with the US patterns though as their stitches are different to ours LOL. Margie x

  10. oooh this is stunning Vicky, your stitching is so neat! I used to be able to crochet when I was a kid but I wouldn't have a clue where to start now. Enjoy the next class.

  11. Lovely patchwork card - much prefer paper patchwork to sewing!!

Your little crocheted flower looks great. A few months ago I wanted to try crochet and my Mum gave me one of her crochet hooks, I even bought a beginner's book .... but that's as far as I've got!! Look forward to seeing what you make next.

Thanks for taking the time to comment :)
