Because I am a Girl

Our girl power can help some girls who really need it!

If you've ever wondered about signing up for an online scrapbooking class then today is the day to do it.  For the next 24 hours Shimelle is donating 100% of her class fees to this very worthy cause, Plan-Uk's Because I am a Girl Campaign.

Go HERE to read all about it and learn more about Shimelle's classes.  I can highly recommend the classes, I took the 'Learn Something New Every Day' class last year and enjoyed every bit of it.  Here's the album I created.

I've just signed up for the 'Something for Almost Nothing' class and can't wait to get started, but there's a huge pile of washing to sort out first!

Bloomin' Lovely

Just couldn't let another week go by without joining in at the City Crafter Challenge, especially as the lovely ladies over there awarded me with a Spotlight Artist award a few weeks back - thanks ladies.
This week's theme is 'I've Been Framed' to use a frame somewhere in your project.  I've framed my card by stitching a border of patterned paper around my card. Thanks to Cards magazine for the inspiration.

This is how I made the flower.  I stuck a square of double-sided sticky sheet onto a piece of quite sturdy card and punched out a 2 inch circle.  Removed the backing and starting in the centre stuck the ruffled ribbon to the card in a spiral until the circle of card was completed covered with ribbon.

Monster Bookmark - How To...

A quick 'how-to-make' a monster corner bookmark as mentioned on the previous post.

1. Take a piece of cardstock 5 x 5 inches, and score at 2.5 inches from each side.  Dividing the square into 4 small squares.

2. Cut away one of the squares

3. Cut diagonally across the 2 outer squares.

4. Trim and stick a square and triangle of patterned paper to fit, leaving a narrow border.

5. Stick the two triangular flaps together and add eyes and teeth.

If you do decide to make one, please come back and let me know so I can take a look.

Monster Bookmark

Something a bit different from me - Monster Page Corner Bookmarks - not so pretty pretty, but I had real fun making them, so I made a little family.  I got the idea from HERE.  The method I used is slightly different to the tutorial in the link so I'm going to do my own quick tutorial and I'll post it over the weekend.  I've used mainly scraps to make them too, so happy to see my scrap box pile going down.

I'm entering them in the 'Bookworm' challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges.  Where they'd like to see
projects either using an image including a book, maybe someone reading something or a bookmark.
I hope these fit!

Tutorial is on THIS page.

Don't Be Square

The inspiration for this card came after reading an article in 'Red' magazine about the latest fashion trend 'Colour Blocking'.  I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear clothes this bright but a handbag - maybe?

I'm entering it in the 'Don't be Square' challenge over at Totally Papercrafts

Another magazine I've been reading this week is Mollie Makes.  Issue 1 is in the shops now and it's a lovely read.  There's a free felt kit to make this IPod cosy too. So quick and easy, only took a couple of hours.

Sew Lovely Kit

'Sew lovely' is the theme over at Let's Craft and Create this week and it was just what I needed to kick start my crafting.  I've been spending all my free time in the garden these past few weeks rather that risk making something I didn't like.
So I finally finished this sewing project I had sitting in the cupboard for absolutley ages, a needlecase, pincushion and gift tag.

It looks like my crafting bug has returned, was getting kinda worried it had gone forever.

Paper Patchwork Handbag!

I like nothing more than making handbag shaped cards and have to resist the temptation daily for fear of boring you all!  But after seeing this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges

Something Beginning with C...
All I could think of was 'circles' which can mean only one thing to me - a handbag!  The circle shaped card blank and handles were cut with my Fiskars Shapecutter and Circle Templates - my new crafty best friend.
Paper patchwork - a great way to use up those paper scraps!
