Inspirational Card Sketch #23

It's that time again for the ICS sketch and there's another fab one from Dawn to play along with this week. Check out the wonderful creations from the DT.
I've used papers from Pink Petticoat and the red pearl buttons, you could say were vintage, well they're certainly older than me! They're from my Mum's button box, so many memories in that box, glad to have found a use for them. Mum was a dressmaker and made all my clothes when I was a girl, I guess that's where I get my love of stitching and buttons from! I think she would've liked this card. Tfl xx.

Build a Flower Card

Just like to share this card I made with a fab new Build A Flower Card template available from Craftbugs. The template was so easy to use with full instructions included. It took longer for me to decide on a colour scheme than it did to make the card! You just cut out the card blank and two flower stacks and then assemble.
I love the design, it's so versatile. I'll definitely be making more it's so handy having non specific cards ready to send for any occasion.
For this one I've used kraft card, Kate Knight Wild blossom paper, and some hand stitching.

Allsorts Challenge #6

This week's Allsorts challenge theme is 'Wings'. There's a fab prize for the lucky winner, a Quickutz Squeeze! I used a previous ICS sketch (can't remember which one now) designed by Dawn Baty for the layout of this card. The paper is KandCo and the butterfly is cut from a pre printed sheet of vellum. The alphas are Making Memories. Thanks for looking x

I Do...

With the wedding season upon us Anice at Funky Hand has designed a fab new word book download collection called, I Do. It has a neutral colour palette that you can dress up to match in with any colour scheme, and is so versatile it can be used for other occasions too.

Check it out here, and be sure to look at the DT examples here

Inspirational Card Sketch #21

Another fantastic and versatile sketch this week from Dawn at ICS. there's a great prize up for grabs this week too, pop over and have a look!

I kept quite strictly to the sketch and had a play with distress inks and aged the Funky Hand papers.

I've never used distress inks before and to be honest I didn't feel entirely comfortable with taking a pristine white card blank and making it look like it had been up in the loft for a few years! I'm not sure if I'll be doing it again, but, I had fun trying a new technique and I guess that is what crafting is all about, having fun.
See what new techniques you can try with this sketch. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Here's my take on the sketch.

The alphas are from Pink Petticoat, and the crown is a cuttlebug die. Tfl :)x

Funky Word Books

Well I've been working on some Funky Hand word book samples so I thought I'd have a play first and make a couple of personal ones to get me in the swing, as I'd never made one before, but they were easy peasy.

For the first one I used the Funky Daze cd to make a Father's Day card. You can't see from this pic but the first page has the sentiment and the 2nd page a pocket to slot in a giftcard. I know my Dad is gonna wonder why I've put buttons on his card! He's no idea!
The second one is for, yes you've guessed it, Phil's 50th birthday! I used the new Funky Word Books cd for this one, and I've stuck the first 3 letters on the front so it has just one page, like a conventional card, and I didn't waste anymore buttons!
I'll be back to share my DT samples later. Tfl :)x

Allsorts challenge #3

Another simple notecard, and I've used this week's Allsorts challenge to create it. The challenge this week is the colour combo pink and white, and there's a fabby prize up for grabs a pad of Dovecraft Kate Knight designer paper.
For my card I've used Making Memories journalling page, A Crafts chipboard flower and other bits and bobs from stash.

Rosie-Dee's Challenge 38

A new challenge blog for me Rosie-Dee's . Rosie is an ICS team mate and I found the challenge whilst admiring her blog. I wanted to make some notecards that can be used for any occasion and when I saw the sketch and the colour combo I knew straight away what I wanted to do, funny how that happens sometimes (not often enough for me!). The papers are Mindy Terasawa, American Crafts chipboard flower, button from stash. Thanks for looking x

Inspirational Card Sketch #20

Can't believe it's Tuesday again already and time for another ICS sketch.

Our sponsor this week is a BRAND NEW company that was started by Melyssa Connolly. She has started Whimsie Doodles, a digital stamp and cutting file store, on etsy. If you stop by her blog, you can find out about her Design Team Call!!!!

Melyssa is offering the winner two amazing digistamps. There's also a freebie image to all readers, so what you waiting for pop on over to ICS check out the the rest of the DT's cards, there's lots of inspiration there, and enter the challenge. Looking forward to see what you all come up with.
Here's my card for this week...

Complete contrast to my last 2 posts, much more minimal! Just love this Mindy Terasawa paper. I've rotated the sketch a quarter turn so that I could use this journaling page from Making Memories. The curly brackets are a Sizzix die, and the rubons are from Doodlebug.

Carol's Sketch Fun #7

My Funky Hand team mate Carol has started a new sketch blog, it's called Carol's Sketch Fun. Every fortnight there'll be a sketch to play along with. This week there's a fab prize on offer too.

Really enjoyed working with this one, just rotated it a quarter turn because the flower looked better in the bottom corner. The papers are Bo Bunny, the old faithful making memories tiny alphas, velvet doodlebug brad! x

Hello!

Just can't help thinking of Lionel Ritchie when I see 'Hello' on a card lol! The challenge over at DCM this week is 'Take Five'

make a card that features five things that are the same.
So that could be five circles, five brads, five birds, five ribbons or
five of anything you like really, as long as you can fit them on your card

I've used, five tags. I wish I could take credit for the idea of stapling the tag strings, but I spotted the idea in 'Simply Cards and Papercraft'. The rubons are Making Memories and the butterflies have been stamped on to vellum.

I read on my team mate Kath's blog that the Allsorts challenge theme this week is 'Curly Swirly' and as there are curls and swirls on this Bo Bunny Beau Jardin paper, I thought I'd be a bit cheeky and enter for that challenge too! xx

Inspirational Card Sketches #19

ICS has a great sketch this week and there's a prize on offer too! Some cool Digi stamps from Digistamps boutique, winner will be chosen at random from all entrants. Here's my card.

Just love these BIG buttons! Think they're by Woodware. The paper is a mix of a free download (link given to me by one of my blogging buddies!) and BG Euphoria. The acetate sentiment is K&Co., and lots of stitching, I think I'm addicted! Why not join in this week, looking forward to see what you come up with x
