Scallop Edge Cards...

Remember them?  I found a pack of unused square scallop edge card blanks in the depths of my craft cupboard.  It took me back to my early days of card making, they were all the rage and I thought they were state of the art.  Now there's all manner of different shapes to tempt us.
As these were the only cream card blanks I could find and to make them work for this design I trimmed the edge off the square to make them standard a6.  Now I kind of like scallop edges again and they work so well with this pretty stamp set.

Thank Yous for Christmas...

Now the festivities are over the first job on my card making list is the Thank Yous.  I've used that ever so popular Signature Christmas set from Clearly Besotted Stamps.  Again, going for a non-traditional colour pallete.  These are for my son to send off to all the generous relatives that sent him cash for Christmas!

Just a reminder too that today is the last day of giveaways over on The Ribbon Girls Blog.  But there's still time to enter, check it out HERE.

Inspiration Everywhere and a Giveaway...

Ok I gave in and actually made some Christmas cards.  Super easy with the Signature Christmas set from Clearly Besotted Stamps. The designs have been rattling around in my head for a while.  I just needed a colour combination.   And, in a rare visit to the theatre a couple of weeks back,  it came to me.  Inspiration can come from where you least expect it.

Quick Engagement...

It's always the way, I've a box full of cards but never the one I need.  So I had to whip up a quick Engagement card yesterday.  Just a couple of hand cut paper hearts, a sentiment created on the pc, some machine stitching and here it is.  I'm happy!

Thanks for stopping by :)

With Love...

It's time for another challenge over at Let's Craft and Create. This time the theme is

ONE LAYER

By one layer we mean one piece of card folded in half with no additional layers.  The image can be stamped or printed directly onto the card stock with minimal embellishments.
Looking forward to seeing all you one layer cards for this challenge. Check out the Let's Craft and Create Blog for some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and the prize up for grabs for one lucky winner.

Birthday Candles...

This week's theme over on the Less is More Challenge Blog is to make a card for a child.  Couldn't let this one pass me by, I could do with some cards for children in my stash.

I took a few supplies out to a shady spot in the garden yesterday afternoon. and came up with this design.
It's another scrap buster card from me.  I didn't cut into one full sheet of 6 x 6 to make it.  They're the kinda cards I love.
The card base is 150 mm x 150 mm, the candles are around 15mm wide and I've used a 1" circle punch to make the candle flames.

Less is More with Colour...

It's been a while, but this week I've found time to enter the colour challenge over on the Less is More challenge blog.  The colour this time is 'round is 'Yellow'.
For my card I've created 3D blooms by folding punched flowers in half and gluing together, there's 7 punch outs for each bloom.  Bit of a fiddle but I like the effect.  The stems I hand stitched with some linen thread which gives slightly more texture than embroidery floss.
I'm off now to check out all the lovely entries I've spied on the blog.

Thanks for stopping by.

Less is More with chevrons...

I made it...with just a half a day to spare to enter this week's Less is More challenge  'Take Three Challenges'.  Choose any three of the past Less is More challenges and combine the critieria from them on your card.  I've gone for...
  • Masculine
  • A Splash of Red
  • Don't Scrap It
Chevrons seem to be one of the latest trends and there's lots of different turorials out there to make them, some a lot easier than others.  Here's the simple method I used to make this card.
First, I printed the sentiment at the foot of an A4 sheet of 300gsm card.  Cut at 21cm from the bottom edge and scored at 10.5 cm to make a DL card.

Trimmed 1cm strips of patterned paper, then cut the strips down to 4cm sections.

To make each chevron I laid two rectangles on top of each other to form a right angle and cut from the bottom to the top corner.  Then arranged them on the card front, that was the hardest part!

Birthday Confetti...

There's a new challenge up on the Let's Craft and Create blog and we've gone for a colour challenge this time.   With these cool colours courtesy of photocard boutique
I've had a rotten cold these last few days and have been feeling a bit sorry for myself so I was struggling to come up with a card design - serves me right for leaving it to the last minute!  I've got a bit of a thing for CAS cards right now so when I saw this confetti card by Kim Kesti on the front cover of Paper Crafts I just had to give it a go.   It took an age arranging and sticking down the tiny punched circles but I think it was worth it!  Great idea for a wedding card too.

Would love to see you over there. Check out the blog for some lovely projects from the DT and to see the prize up for grabs for one lucky entry.

Less is More with colour...

It's colour theme week over on the Less is More blog and this time it's 'Neturals'.   I was really chuffed to see my card in the showcase last week.  Thanks ladies.
I was a bit stumped with the Neutrals theme at first, but then that's not unusual for me!  Takes a little while for the old brain to come up with an idea.  Then I remembered these patterned paper scraps that were left over from some cards I made a while back for QVC.  I punched some 2" squares, rounded the opposite corners and arranged them on the card front and added a stamped sentiment.

All Tied Up...

Here's my entry for this week's challenge over at Less is More, a One Layer Card using Stripes.
I thought I'd have to give it a miss this week but I had a lightbulb moment whilst tidying up my craft area when I came across this striped embossing folder.
Had to get hubby's help to tie the tie, apparently it's a 'Double Windsor' knot.
