Found a great tutorial via <a href="https://www.instagram.com/blushcrafts/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Instagram </a>to make a garland for the garden reusing plastic bags. I've accumulated so many carrier bags from the grocery deliveries during lockdown. I was delighted to find a use for them.<div><br /></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div><br />

If you'd like to have a go, you can find it <a href="https://fionacumberpatch.com/2020/07/14/something-from-nothing/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> on the blog of artist and journalist Fiona Cumberpatch. I've been so inspired by Fiona's <a href="https://www.instagram.com/fionacumberpatch/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Instagram</a> feed, I've made a commitment to seriously tidy up my garden and to start growing flowers from seed.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
We've all got old jeans clogging up the wardrobe. Free up some space, do your bit for the environment and upcycle! Turn the legs into handy storage bags. <br />
It's easy, not much sewing involved and you can sew by hand if you don't have a sewing machine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRYMOJZGW9X3dzA65phEagJc3eDeHDq-EM6gWJWJaz27gWiRJEFMUiZFxc2KhBHZOIgVIbMurgGA8jUjYcIBIRrwE76R73ww7aFG84fpV-eYMcdq-8cZLRlyR4cmY3Kkpdu6dE8MTtATsH/s1600/IMG_E2969.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRYMOJZGW9X3dzA65phEagJc3eDeHDq-EM6gWJWJaz27gWiRJEFMUiZFxc2KhBHZOIgVIbMurgGA8jUjYcIBIRrwE76R73ww7aFG84fpV-eYMcdq-8cZLRlyR4cmY3Kkpdu6dE8MTtATsH/s640/IMG_E2969.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
First cut off about 30cm from the bottom of the leg.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh18sje9xdvmEwRDe0BX1C6eBvWjtxhs5zc_KpxJ6xY98c0zwqItAoU0hHei6KcpNRkM2XBvlQBraA1lCUJYjoD9xfOdfMCz9ie-_I7F6yH6JKEuDQaDZGje3fkJ7oTx_-5PE-XvUGp2Uz3/s1600/IMG_2973.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh18sje9xdvmEwRDe0BX1C6eBvWjtxhs5zc_KpxJ6xY98c0zwqItAoU0hHei6KcpNRkM2XBvlQBraA1lCUJYjoD9xfOdfMCz9ie-_I7F6yH6JKEuDQaDZGje3fkJ7oTx_-5PE-XvUGp2Uz3/s640/IMG_2973.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Turn inside out and stitch about 1cm from the cut edge. If you 're sewing on a sewing machine zig zag stitch along the raw edge to stap fraying<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjir_5Evb26QZRJi2OtfWghS4zB37heIQNvzN80TfvEBNYCc5EtrgbgvkIpbDcQh5d1hrwgEKJdr9P4Yn-_5SXA8-XDJWcYSSNlmMnjKZkKvdN_CR1AXjXOWdhgckaBnvxoxkY5WeGSmRNE/s1600/IMG_2975.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjir_5Evb26QZRJi2OtfWghS4zB37heIQNvzN80TfvEBNYCc5EtrgbgvkIpbDcQh5d1hrwgEKJdr9P4Yn-_5SXA8-XDJWcYSSNlmMnjKZkKvdN_CR1AXjXOWdhgckaBnvxoxkY5WeGSmRNE/s640/IMG_2975.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Pull open the leg and match the seam with the centre of the leg. Mark a line with pins 5cms from the point.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy-7YlJomP3tPq776vBtlbCYERGyWDSLZHd8DM0VV_vlsiqu-ZCvWyJBcNZ25Xo1TXW6m9PZEacml8jnZJU4Z9BwFEJlVq3tVwDPmaQMI-96GjwdYxnVc7f3uJaYmnP9phx6saQbEea61k/s1600/IMG_2976.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy-7YlJomP3tPq776vBtlbCYERGyWDSLZHd8DM0VV_vlsiqu-ZCvWyJBcNZ25Xo1TXW6m9PZEacml8jnZJU4Z9BwFEJlVq3tVwDPmaQMI-96GjwdYxnVc7f3uJaYmnP9phx6saQbEea61k/s640/IMG_2976.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Repeat on the opposite side and stitch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Trim away the excess fabric leaving a 1cm seam allowance and zig zag stitch along the raw edge.<br />
<br />

<br />
Show someone you love them with a handmade box full of their favourite treat.<br />
My box has dividers inside designed to hold four chocolates, but you could do without the dividers and fill it with your chosen gift.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
For box making I like to use card that has a pattern on both sides, that way you get a pretty pattern inside the box too, scrapbook paper works well but I like to use a digital paper pack so I can choose and print a design on each side of my chosen card. For this box I’ve used Carta Bella Devoted, it’s available to download from http://www.snapclicksupply.com.. <br />
<br />
1. For the base, take an 18cm square of card, score at 4.5cm on all 4 sides and cut one fold at each corner making tabs to add glue.<br />
<br />
2. Repeat for the lid, but with a 13cm square of card and score each side at 2cm. Cut out a heart from the centre and back the window with a square of acetate.<br />
<br />
3. For the dividers, cut two 9cm square pieces of card, fold in half and cut a slit in the centre of each so that they slot together.<br />
<br />
4. Make a band to wrap around the box to keep it closed, and to take the embellishments<br />
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjccq_YfJ6PVuLYqEOXFSjXzZ_BS_lonFWBGaLSdKm3koAmqImsIMJoy0X8g_knvyAb_3vSwtgJCrJOz2g05XJxRJekB5cLTtBaEfvcZX5oKgS26tCTdRwwhD6Z6kFZKnKFJTotZT-Tx1wu/s1600/IMG_0725+%25281000x870%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="870" data-original-width="1000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjccq_YfJ6PVuLYqEOXFSjXzZ_BS_lonFWBGaLSdKm3koAmqImsIMJoy0X8g_knvyAb_3vSwtgJCrJOz2g05XJxRJekB5cLTtBaEfvcZX5oKgS26tCTdRwwhD6Z6kFZKnKFJTotZT-Tx1wu/s1600/IMG_0725+%25281000x870%2529.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The finished box measures 9 x 9 x 4.5cm. You can use this box as a template and adapt it to suit your gift, always use a bone folder to crease the folds and a good strong glue to secure the flaps. Embellishment is the key to a professional finish, be careful not to overload the box and coordinate the ribbon and tag to create a luxury gif<br />

<br />
I used this tutorial to make some Origami Lilies<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a data-pin-do="embedPin" href="https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/55732114124628049/"></a><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
As with most origami folds you start with a square of paper, the size of that square determines the finished size of the lily.<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I experimented with various sizes, colours and weights of paper to get the look I was after, 12" scrapbook paper was too thick and the lilies were untidy and massive!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A recycled magazine gave the best result, a 2017 catalogue from Stoff & Stil, the paper was just the right thickness and the muted colour palette I was looking for.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I attached the finished flowers on to bamboo skewers with hot glue and arranged them in a vintage Denby pottery jug.</div>

<br />
Every year I chose my favourites from the Christmas cards I receive and recycle them in some way. This year I simply made new cards from them.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXPFRKp1kTZiaf9ANjsQOiprBEccqr2hzTbpV0joq0iSEiBF_Pinzuzt4sABjYiw3-P7FNB1-FFtMV1D7vukF6CZ9k-h72lrzRbk5a_vppeAPACDLTP2fHg-UZF-XuXGDADZunKIjz5hnG/s1600/IMG_2779.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXPFRKp1kTZiaf9ANjsQOiprBEccqr2hzTbpV0joq0iSEiBF_Pinzuzt4sABjYiw3-P7FNB1-FFtMV1D7vukF6CZ9k-h72lrzRbk5a_vppeAPACDLTP2fHg-UZF-XuXGDADZunKIjz5hnG/s640/IMG_2779.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I cut off the front of each card using a paper trimmer to give a nice neat finish.. Then, with double sided tape, stuck them to new card bases cut from sturdy white card (300gsm) and finished with a sprinkling of adhesive gems.<br />
<br />

<br />
LUSH bath bombs, are always on my gift wish-list, the Butterball is my favourite.. This Christmas I got a kit to make my own!!! It was surprisingly easy...<br />
The kit included all the necessary ingredients, a pipette and a mould; the instructions were really straightforward and I made 5 bath bombs.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
My kit was from M&S with just a quick internet search you'll discover there are a lot of different kits out there. Or you can buy the ingredients separately and design your own, I plan to do this next time I make them, maybe I'll try and recreate the Butterball.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1HPbpJtdNvL6VbwMxw-MMaVlyyzQGgbbAIUzYX9Wd8wbUT5H9PzVNxTXGG9aWU8DcUt3Tqgjf6WF-E5FkdkJVkF_VhCWy04ZQ5pqWErq2wxsNEZtk_Jc17YjDJCMyqWnPhVxDUFnQjxmy/s1600/IMG_2416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1HPbpJtdNvL6VbwMxw-MMaVlyyzQGgbbAIUzYX9Wd8wbUT5H9PzVNxTXGG9aWU8DcUt3Tqgjf6WF-E5FkdkJVkF_VhCWy04ZQ5pqWErq2wxsNEZtk_Jc17YjDJCMyqWnPhVxDUFnQjxmy/s640/IMG_2416.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Once the bombs had hardened, it takes about 24 hours, I packaged them really simply in grease proof paper bags with a hand-stamped label.<br />

Nigel Slater's chocolate muscovado banana cake is the perfect way to use up those over ripe bananas and any left over Christmas chocolate. I've made it several times, it fills the house with a fruity sweet aroma and tastes delicious.<br />
The full recipe featured in Red Magazine and is available online<a href="https://www.redonline.co.uk/food/recipes/a501529/nigel-slater-chocolate-muscovado-banana-cake/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> HERE</a>.<br />

<br />
Now layer the 3 double loops, adding glue to each layer and finish with the 10 cm loop in the centre.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Tip</span><br />
To create my border strips I used the Woodware Crafty Edger (no longer available), alternatively you could use the <a href="http://amzn.to/2DqPdqq" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Fiskars Advantedge Punch System</a>, a double edged border punch like the <a href="http://amzn.to/2pcfTGd" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Martha Stewart Crafts Double Link Double Edge Punch</a> or a decorative border strip die.<br />
